It’s all Relative

So I just did an interview discussing the relative success of our last album Fragile Future with MTV. After reading comments on various sites I've realized something: many people (including us) think its our best album to date, while to many others, its our worst. I get that. Some albums, not just FF, are more of an acquired taste and require multiple listens or an understanding of where the artist was coming from to "get it". If the album in question wasn't what you expected or wanted, you probably hate it. If you like FF great, if not, fine. We don't need everyone to like everything we release, if that was the case, we'd be bigger than The Beatles and Led Zeppelin combined (and as much as I love the music we create, that wouldn't be right in the grand scheme of things). Speaking of Led Zeppelin...this reminded me...their third album (Zeppelin III) was a very polarizing album during its time from what I've read. Many people "got it" and enjoyed it for what it was (it was no "Zeppelin II", but it was not without its great songs). On the other hand many people hated it. It was folky sounding and didn't have nearly as much raw rock energy that "II" had. As a musician I can appreciate "III" a whole lot more now because I can relate. The band had something they had to create for themselves. That's what we did with FF. After Zeppelin "III", the band took it to another level (higher than they'd ever been) with the release of "IV". That's what our intentions are with our fourth album! These songs are the best we've ever written and will blow you away...promise! Eron

Who cares what people think about FF, it's a great album. Half the people that didn't like it probably listen to shit music anyway. No one in this industry has millions on top millions of records sold right now. F*** peoples expectations, and I'm so sick of MTV. They don't even show music videos like they are supposed to. It should be RTV, 'reality television'. People don't know what they want anymore, we are all force fed what we 'should' be listening to. I don't want to go to a concert and settle for nose bleed. I don't want teeny boppers coming to shows with signs and passing out.. Just good music. I feel like you guys are more mature now, and want people to see that, but some people are just assholes.. I think this album will be splendid, and if the record sales don't reflect that, than that's a shame. Just keep doing what you guys do and the rest will fall into place.. Claud..<3

I can't wait to hear the new songs! I've loved everything you've ever released, so just keep writing and making music from your heart. That's all that matters. Fragile Future was incredible... don't let anyone tell you otherwise :)

I think Fragile Future is far and a way your best work. That's nothing against the other two albums, but Fragile Future was just all the way from start to finish a great album. It obviously wasn't your most successful album, but success in no way measures how good something is. I still listen to Fragile Future about two to three times a week all the way through it's an album that has really stuck with me. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with next.

I totally get what ur saying. III was SOO different. but it was fresh, if they kept going with the same thing, there never woulda been physical graffiti, no kashmir, no "the rover" no in the light!
and about ff, I think some of the acoustic songs are almost better. like disaster, i like the loops on it, and the almost caribean sounding metal drums? (im guessing)
but sometimes a supposed failure brings about the best ideas.
and for me at least, if youve got haters, youve got people who care. like all the people on here!

I'm gonna have to hold you up to that promise (Even though no matter what I'm sure I'll love it). I've been a HH fan since the beginning and I love seeing the band grow and change. If you guys feel that the new album is your best yet, then it truly is.
Peace & Love..

Hey Eron, I was wondering what you think about iTunes.
Personally, I really dislike it. Its slow, you can pretty much only use ipods with it (I dont have one), and theres just something about it to me, that it just feels like a fad.

ps. BOSTON SHOW SOON!?

The thing is it wasn't that Fragile Future wasn't good. It was that the first two album sound so different from it. I think people chose to dislike the FF because of the fact that Casey wasn't apart of it and it sounded more popish. It was just a completely different type of music.

ok this is what i think, granted im just some kid from idaho and you probably wont read this comment, but in any case here it goes. i personaly liked the Fragile Future album, it kicked ass, but i also thought it didn't have as much energy as If Only You Were lonley and definitley not as much as Silence in Black and White, which was my personal favorite. anyway what im trying to say is that you guys rock and i totally can see where your comming from with the comparison of Zeppelin III to FF you guys had to do this album the way you did Kick ass. But i need some feedback from you cause i love your music and i would like to see what you think of mine. this isnt like some crazy pitch hoping you help me get signed to a record company i just want your opinion on my music. so if any of you get the chance e-mail me at Tacostand351@hotmail.com or send me a message on myspace i you added me a couple moths ago.....

Oh, I really loved Fragile Future but I just think The Silence... and If Only You Were Lonely were better :]

I'd like to see a song with the emotion of Summer Sunshine or Decembers ;)

(BTW: IMO the best songs on FF were Rescue Me and The Business Of Paper Stars)

FF seemed to feature a different formula for crafting the tunes, also the guitar tones were a bit different (the Mesa Stilletto's?) "Letting Go Of Everything" is incredible art
